Watsons Bay to Coogee

At Bondi Beach the sun kisses the sand, and every wave writes a love letter to the shore ~unknown
Another glorious summer day, with the bonus of sharing the southern Sydney beaches phase with my wonderful wife.
Started with a perfect sunrise over The Gap before a lap around South Head via Camp Cove, Lady Bay and Hornby Lighthouse back to Watsons Bay.
Then the amazing saunter via the fragmented Cliff Walk past Macquarie Lighthouse, the Dunbar memorial and Diamond Bay - this part will have even more wow factor once the final section around Dover Heights is soon completed. Magnificent!
Then, on the cliffs beyond North Bondi golf course, (near the sewer tower haha) is one little tidbit that I might add to the extensive info online about this walk. It's not so well known these days, but I always love to view the controversial 16th century Spanish carvings here perhaps 'claiming' 'Australia' for the Spanish Crown.
Aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargreaves and many others have argued that these are 'proof' of a Spanish landing in 1595 by Lope de Vega in the Santa Isabel and represent a Spanish colonial claim. If you want to know more search online for 'the Spanish Proclamation' in The Secret Visitors Project. Whatever its veracity, it adds a little mystery and a touch of Latin spice to this special place.
Then, it was on to probably Sydney's most famous walk, along the headlands from Bondi to Coogee via Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly and Gordon's Bay to Coogee (with, for the true believers and/or the very gullible, its very own Blessed Virgin Mary apparition - still awaiting Vatican approval methinks).
Anyway, this popular walk certainly deserves the accolades. Just glorious! I always love seeing so many folk of all shapes and sizes from here, there and everywhere, enjoying themselves on this magical section of coastline. Hopefully it'll motivate a few to one day try Dreamtime to Eden as it did me!
Big swells today so our cool down swim at Clovelly was more of a washing machine than a gentle lap. Very impressed with the howls of enjoyment coming from many of our co-washing machinees... nothing to fear but fear itself...
Tomorrow is Coogee to La Perouse (and a bit of French could've beens) - yet another magical slice of the southern Sydney coast.
Bliss.
On on...
