Lennards Island to Eden

There must be a beginning of any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory ~ Francis Drake

Day 79 and it was time to walk into Eden. Yippee! Sauntered/celebrated together with my wife, Jelly, to share the final steps into Eden and the conclusion of the official part of my Dreamtime to Eden walk. (We will spend tomorrow exploring Eden and southwards as a kind of denouement to round the journey up to 80 days).

We started out from Terrace Beach at the end of a 6 km fire trail off the Princes Highway. A perfect beach before heading out on the Lennards Island Track. Another sensational place that I had not known of previously.

It's a 5 km out and back walk to the headland and island, but again rewarded with that totally wild, untouched feel.

Then it was the 5 km track out to amazing Worange (does it rhyme with 'orange'?) Point i.e. the north head of Twofold Bay. There are no words. A beautifully made track leads out to the tip of the headland with perfect views north and south. Had a quiet moment of reflection peering northwards and remembering all the incredible beaches and headlands over the 1000 or so miles of strolling during the quest.

We spent some time looking for any track from there directly down to Aslings Beach but couldn't see any way through other than a bush bash ending at a privately owned construction site - although I believe there are plans to extend the Bundian Way to cover this obvious gap.

Better counsel prevailed, and we headed back up the fire trail and around to Aslings via the road. The final saunter into Eden was a pleasant stroll along Aslings Beach and then the gorgeous lookouts near the Eden Killer Whale Museum which I marked as the end of the voyage.

Staying tonight in Snug Cove, Eden - which sounds and feels totally appropriate. Made it!

Just a wonderful penultimate day for this adventure with a more poetically philosophical post to close off tomorrow for Day 80.

But right now I'm quietly congratulating myself on starting, middling and ending this NSW coastal camino. There might be a bottle of champagne awaiting...

The journey of a thousand miles begins, and ends, with a single step...
